There’s a Mixture in my Family

The family tree ’twas more work for me I fear.
Sitting, reading, following up the leads of the family’s
Far flung threads, that seemed, so full of mystery.
A marriage here, a fling there this family is a calamity.

So I settled looked, and started to put it all together.
Mum married dad, grand ma married pop.
Seems clear so far great grand pa married great grand ma.
Simple there, no troubles to it I am really sure.

Great, great grand parents I put down on ever side.
Then came aunts and uncles in all ages and shapes.
Then I thought struth, we are a multi cultural lot.
So I thought, maybe it would be better if I tried to explain.

Now mum she was born in Spain, dad in Turkey.
Me brother he was born in America, it says a lot for him.
Me sister she entered this world while they were in England.
Now a mixing pot this family is we come from all around.

Now grand ma she’s from France, and grand pa’s from Italy.
Well dad’s ma’s from Canada he’s dad from Wales.
Their parents are from Africa, Germany, China and Japan.
While their children are from all around the world.

Their kids and grand kids born in every place on earth.
And poor old me well I’m just plain Australian, I think.
