NO NO NO Maureen that is not short cause you still said What Ever you just types the words together ???

Look sometimes you can say sweet which means all is OK, now don't forget that OK means Okay and Don't means do not so you are saving on letters. Hey you can also put IMO which means In My Opinion see saves letter !!!

Or OMG Which means OH MY GOD or Oh MY Goodness but that really does not work cause ( short for because ) goodness is to long anyway.

Get it ?

Hey Guys......
I keep thinking I'm getting feed back on my story...
but it's not - it's banter!

Yes, I enjoyed it too, Wendy. Has it been published?

Reminds me of a poem I wrote. Here it is.

Socks!

© Stephen Whiteside 19.11.10

Our men are all keen to enlist.
Or, if they are not, we insist.
A light feather, white,
Soon sets their minds right.
It’s a message that’s hard to resist.

Socks. Socks. Socks.
It’s a labour of love, not a chore.
It’s a nice little shove
From Heaven above,
And we’re all knitting socks for the War.

To the trenches the soldiers all swarm,
In the face of the oncoming storm.
They might lose an eye
As the fast bullets fly,
But at least both their feet will stay warm.

Socks. Socks. Socks.
It’s a labour of love, not a chore.
We’ll warm the boys’ blood
’Gainst the trenches’ cold mud,
And we’re all knitting socks for the War.

It’s a struggle to offer your best
With a bayonet jammed in your chest,
Or your guts all on show,
But we want you to know,
We’ll keep knitting with vigour and zest!

Socks. Socks. Socks.
It’s a labour of love, not a chore.
We’ll heat the lads’ feet
’Gainst the rain and the sleet.
We’ll keep the boys’ glow
Under blankets of snow,
We’ll love them to death
As they draw their last breath,
For we’re all knitting socks for the War!

Don't despair Wendy - it is a very good story - Christmas time is never a good time to get any sense out of people and lots of folks are away and busy which is why the site is always so slow at this time of year apart from the few idiots (not Neville and Stephen) who just try to jolly things along a bit.

Love the irony in that poem Stephen....if your feet are warm and your powder is dry all MUST be right with your world.

Cheers

Maureen

Hi Stephen,
Nice poem....the knitting needle clicking must have been heard for miles around each country town!!

I always do a lot of research before I write something and I came across a new world that I could have waffled on about for ages.

Yes, the book is published and obtainable in either hard copy or an ebook. I have recently got an e-reader and LOVE it!
