Crotchetty horse .

I saw this horse at the showground horse events.

I said to the horse " Excuse me, can I.... "

" WHAT? " said the horse " SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR, GOT THIS FLAMIN' THING ON MY EARS. "

I replied " I SAID, CAN I TAKE YOUR PHOTO. TO SHOW THE BUSH POETS, THEY LIKE HORSE PICTURES ".

" Why not " said the horse " Everyone here has a chance to see me with this silly hat, why not the bush poets as well "

" They like horses", I said, "they might like your hat "

" Really " said the horse bitterly " Would they like my horse poetry ? "

"I once stood tall
a proud equus,
my noble forehead
blazing white.
Until some knitting ninny,
obsessed to gild the lily,
put on my ears
and down my face
a poncey crocheted crown. "

" They may not like that ", I said, " It doesn't rhyme "

" I'm a horse " snorted the horse " A non-human, thank the Creator, I don't have to conform to your anthropocentric literary rules, publish and be damned "

" Well thanks for your time " I said " best of luck in the events "

" Hooroo" said the horse with a toss of her head.

Hahaha Neville ... Crotchetty Horse ... I get it! Very funny story too. Some horses need to wear them as they get distracted by noises from crowds, sideshow, chainsaw events, etc. They must work like ear muffs and dull the sounds.

Warooa, that sure is one very weird hat. Looks like a dung beetle statue actually, so it fitted in with the horse thread very well.

 Neville that is so funny. I hope you had as much fun writing it as I did reading it. Sometimes I do wonder about you though!

Thanks Kym, Heather. I'm not good on the technical descriptions of horsie things.

You wonder about me sometimes Heather...I wonder about me often.

By the way ladies ( and Manfred ) , if you are reading this. The weatherman is thinking cold wind and rain for next weekend in the Morisset area. Better check on your micro-environmental requirements.
