Mad Mick

Post by alongtimegone » Wed Oct 19, 2016 1:03 pm

This was supposed to be posted in the writing workshop but it's locked. My fault but I don't want to waste it ... been so long since I got around to writing anything. So with apologies to Maureen for my tardiness and also to A.B. ... ... ... three verses only.
Wazza

Mad Mick from Cabramatta

There was pathos in the suburbs. The word had got around.
Mad Mick from Cabramatta had got away.
He’d joined up with the wild mob and they’d all gone underground,
so the boys in blue had gathered without delay.
All the old experienced coppers; even some from interstate,
had come by car, by train, by Qantas air.
for Mick was far more dangerous than Trump and Clinton in debate.
They vowed to sniff him out foul means or fair.

Poirot was there and Maigret, Inspector Morse as well
and Ironside that wheelchair dynamo.
Through long afternoons of training to be ready at the bell;
he’d be up front when it was time to go.
And Kojak “Who loves ya baby?” was waiting for the bell.
Inexorable sadness on his face
from endless duplication, five years on CBS,
you’d think he’d be too tired for the race

And one was there Miss Marple in immaculate attire
astride her pink Lambretta modified
More power than a Victa and a Kardashian hair drier
saddle polished; ready for the ride
Its wheels had gone the distance, its battery born to run
There were still three millimetres in its tread
With headlight shining brightly more lumens than the sun
A machine of awesome pride Italian bred.

But a small two-wheeler scooter? One would doubt its power to stay
with an escapee (so said the boys in blue).
So they told Miss Marple firmly she had better stop away
lest she fall behind and could not follow through.
But the great Inspector Morse declared, "We ought to let her come -
though she might look old and frail from where you sit,
that appearance is deceiving - don't be tricked the same as some -
for Miss Marple is the best - you must admit."

Thought I'd give you a start for the rest of it, Wazza! Come on - be inspired!! An epic awaits ... ;) :D

Good one Shelley!
Now you've talked me into one (only) extra verse. Could Mad Mick be transferred to 'collaborations' for a few more takers? Plenty of verses left Ha ha

She was born in the saddle Up Bunya Mountains way
As rugged a set of ridges as you’ll find
Where a lambretta’s tyres bite hungrily not tempted once to stray
Given chance she’ll have Mad Mick and mates sidelined
And the Bunya Mountain Bikies ride the rugged slopes for fun
Doing wheelies and hand stands as they descend
And I tell you now Miss Marple outrides every single one
Set your minds at ease on her you can depend.

Hi again Wazza - I was reading your epic again, and decided that we definitely can't let this go to ground without turning it into a good yarn! So here's my contribution with another verse ...

So she went. They tracked his progress up from Bondi to the Cross
where the Purple Pussycat had been his lair.
So they went in undercover with their orders from the Boss
to discover if Mad Mick was hiding there.
But they'd lost him, for the underworld made sure that he'd moved on
and Inspector Morse declared, "Ay, there's the rub ...
he won't stay here in the City. We may count this felon gone
once he hides himself in some old outback pub."

Cheers ;)

Good work Shelley. Sorry for not responding sooner. I like the fact that Mick is back in the bush. Maybe he'll surface again somewhere, sometime.
Cheers,
Wazza
