I'm an OZYBSTD

Post by ozybstd » Tue Mar 06, 2012 5:25 pm

I was born the year Rising Fast won the Cup, Footscray won the premiership and 100 years after the Eureka Stockade. I just looked at my age on the profile and find it hard to believe, what the hell happened!!
I was born in Donald and have lived in Melbourne, Geelong and Benalla. Worked 16 years on the railways, at the Geelong Hospital and seven years at an oil refinery before starting at San Francisco Airport. I came to America looking for, and finding, my second divorce. For the past eight years I have lived with my girlfriend, dog, cat and bird, on a 46 foot boat on the San Francisco Bay. Two weeks ago we moved on land and the animals, human and otherwise, love it.
I really like Steele Rudd, Henry Lawson and Mark Twain.
I don't read much poetry, I just started one night and have enjoyed it ever since.
At the end of the day only one thing is important - did Hawthorn win!!!!!!

Well Welcome I don’t suppose you can help being a Victorian just bad luck I guess although there are some I don’t mind.

You will in the ensueing months get some flack about bush Poetry being rhyming poetry (and only right and proper) I don’t write a lot so I can’t talk to much but I do recite a fair bit and like the old masters, there is also an awful lot of good stuff on here by forum members as you will find out.

Anyhow again welcome. ’n’ cheers.

Being born the year Footscray won the flag gives it away cos they've only won it once. Me . . . I could be as old as 51 or as young as 4 or many ages in between having been born the year the mighty Hawks won.

Marty

ps. your girlfriend doesn't mind the other bird hanging 'round?

Robere you're slipping - I did    just one verse to help him on his way - forward that is not out. I bit my tongue for about two days and you are sooooo right - it was killing me

Figure that anyone who lives on a boat or did and has dogs must have one or two good points

See you can give as good as you get OzzieB so you'll be right. As Dave says lots of help available and always offered for you to lose or chose - but some top poets on here Mate that I am sure you will delight in reading and learning from.

Not sure about something Mate then just ask. Everyone here is happy to help.

Cheers

Maureen

Thanks Maureen, I am still talking to my best friend, the voices in my head, about rhyming. I'm not a poet but a person who writes poems. How you write is so different to me but I must admit I have a for a few months thinking about getting more in line.
