A couple of days ago, I saw a contestant on the British quiz show The Chase asked " What is the country famous for its Bush Poets ". he didn't know the answer...Australia "
We have a long way to go to change the world. ;) :)

Neville I suspect people in most countries would not have heard or understand the word "bush". They would know forest, woodland etc but bush is a very Australian word. When I visited New Zealand I was amused by the term "chilly bin" to describe an esky. I had never heard that before then and NZ is just four hours away.

Keep sharing your Aussie Bush Poetry onto overseas poetry sites and mark it as Aussie Bush Poetry - there are plenty of them and it seems to be well received. Some South African poets write similar styled poetry and of course Cowboy Poetry is along the same lines. If we don't share our work with the world through the many options that are available to us - how can we possibly expect them to know about it - silence is not necessarily golden.

And while I am on that subject my poetry mag - is being swamped with poems from overseas writers and is running very lean on Australian writers and it is an Aussie mag, albeit with an international audience - so I can help spread the word but you, my lovely poetry mates, (I don't mind grovelling  ) need to share with me...I am currently seeking submissions for the March/April editions.

Yes Bob, the quizmaster was asking and he had the right answer.
