Stop looking found it
I need the rest of this poem if anyone can help.
I shore along the Bidgie in the good old roaring days
I rung the shed at Tubbo next pen to Smacker Hayes
Oh strike me how I love it the camping in the fogs
Within hearing of the hobble chains and the croaking of the frogs.
To me was sweetest music oh the chink of hobble chains
and the rattle of the quart pots on our journey o're the plains
When the men from cold Monaro and the boys from Danaloo
sort shearin on The Bogan and along the parched Paroo.
With hack and pack horse baggage we'd poke along some how
T'was fun that bloomin hardship but i don't go shearing now.
Well no i never shore em with machine and twistin gear
To me it's all a rumble and a jumble mighty queer.
The boss he cannot chip you "cept he hollers in you ear
and that is none to pleasant when his voice is full of beer.
Me tally board is empty and there's wrinkles in me brow
I guess i'll have to face it boys I don't go shearin now.
I know a later verse is mentions
I'd like again to dance upon the boards with Jackie How
But hang the come's and cutters boy's I don't go shearing now
Has nobody heard it before ?

Re: Does Anyone Know?
Tubbo Shearing Shed near Darlington Point in the Riverina of NSW.
My grand uncle painted the original sign on the roof just after he returned home from WWII.
He used to joke that he had to take a cut lunch with him for each letter.

Re: Does Anyone Know?
Frank and Bob,
As much as I hated working sheep, it is great to see some of the history of the industry, after all the country 'rode on the sheeps back' at one stage. I was working out around Broken Hill about 20 years ago, I did some work on Bimbowrie Station where they had a massive old stone shed called 'Antro' the sheer size of it was amazing, it had been converted to overhead gear but you could still see how it had been origionally a blade shed, I was totally amazed at how many stands had been in there when it was still a blade shed, I counted the let out holes but I don't remember now how many threr were, when I walked it in was like stepping back in time.

Re: Does Anyone Know?
A friend who lived on the property next to me sent me this one but I can't for the life of me remember where it is. She said it was the biggest shed she had ever seen and was just glad she didn't have to work it.
