DEATH NOTICE

I received notice this evening that Jan Angel of Narrandera has passed away.
Jan was 82 years of age, and the widow of the late Jim Angel, former business man, poet and entertainer.
She is survived by her son Peter and daughter Pam.
The Jim Angel Perpetual Award is presented to the best Original poet at the John O'Brien Festival each year.

Jan's funeral will be held at 10am on Monday 14th March at the C of E church Narrandera.

God bless her, may she rest in peace.

Although I didn't know Jan Angel anywhere near as well as many other members of the ABPA and the bush poetry fraternity, I did have the honour of meeting her a number of times at various John O'Brien Festivals over the years and was fortunate enough to be presented by her with the Jim Angel Award on one occassion.
Jan's love of bush poetry and her pride in her beloved Narrandera were not only well known but extremely obvious to all who met her.
Jan will be greatly missed by those who knew her and especially by her many friends within the bush poetry family.

Saddened to hear of Jan's passing. I got to know Jim and Jan when at the Mulwala get togethers some years back. Both nice people.
