Being 'one of them Catholics', as I am,

I'm pretty sure it is in Adoration of the presence of God, not any mere mortel, regardless of position or rank. Also, in case you are not aware, when the consicrated Host is on display, we go as far as both knees at once, and bow your head as well.

Curtsy to Royaty is another thing altogether.

THey say religion should not be talked about but this following statement rings of truth
I know this may be mythical but did not one of the Kings of England say to his Knights Bow to no man but your father and be true to your King.

Mostly seen used in a religious connotation as used by the Catholic Church - but they don't have sole use of it ;)

intransitive verb
1
a : to bend the knee
b : to touch the knee to the floor or ground especially in worship
2
: to be servilely obedient or respectful

verb
[no object]
lower one's body briefly by bending one knee to the ground , typically in worship or as a sign of respect.
show deference or servility:
politicians had to genuflect to the far left to advance their careers

Having said that I never kneel to anybody - mainly because I can't get back up again if I do - so I have just come to accept the fact that a knighthood or whatever the female equivalent is will never alas be mine

and by the way Marty should be caught cow towing I hope the RSPCA come down on you like a ton of bricks :o I suspect however you are pushing buttons just to see who bites and really knew it was kowtowing.

Kowtow (; Cantonese: kau tàuh, khấu đầu) is the act of deep respect shown by kneeling and bowing so low as to have one's head touching the ground. ...

Went to a funeral yesterday. Forgot how fit you have to be to go to a Catholic service. Sit down, stand up, sit down, kneel, stand up, do a shot, kneel, sit, stand................ I'm hurting all over this morning, time for a fitness kick.

Too much aerobics and not enough shots, Keats. Hey maybe there's a pome in that?
I went to a catholic funeral once and felt quite anointed when the bloke said 'Of Those Who Lie Sleeping In The Dust Of The Earth Many Will Awake' - I was like "hey that's me!" cos I used to fall off the floor quite a bit back then.

I gave up after 7 pages.
Perhaps we just need to enter more comps. and if our poems are up to scratch sooner or later we will find a judge that likes what we write.
As I have said before I wouldn't be a judge for quids.
Judges are like the rest of us, they like some poems better that others.

HOLY ******* GRAIL!......what have I done...
I’m reluctant to do this for fear of creating any controversy but if I can’t turn to my peers for advice then we are all wasting our time.
:o  :?
