Thoughts on poetry

I think that was in relation to the way that some people claim to understand Poetry when in fact they do not and are just going along with the crowd in their opinions.

Bob, "the Emperors new clothes" is about people going along with opinion all right, but it is about joining the crowd to pretend to see things that are not there. So you are arguing that people who see poetry in modernist verse are just pretending to see poetry when it is not there.
Maybe modernists are or are not poets but you are indeed arguing that the modernists are not poets when you use that phrase.
