... and as we three (at least) rush off to the bookshop, again thank you David.

G/day again David,
Thank you for going to so much trouble in answering my queries.
I dug out that critique again just to make sure I had read it right, and sure enough it states "comma's are not used before 'and' a conjunction"
In most places wherever I used a comma before 'and' I got pinged I'll show a sentence here to give you an idea.

'Some struggle to the water though exhausted and in pain,
and then lie down to have a rest, and don't get up again.' - I suppose the sentence could have easily been rewritten -

I hope you don't think I'm having a go at whoever conducted the critique, nothing could be further from the truth. My only interest is in how to improve my writing, as I mentioned I'm quite weak when it comes to punctuation, and I see it as my current challenge to try and improve my writing.
I'm certainly not concerned about you pointing out my incorrect use apostrophes, please fell free to to also do so in the future, although with my poor grasp of English it could end up being a full time job.

Thanks again for your explanations and suggestions, and as Zondrae said, it will now be off to the book shop.

Cheers Terry
