Let's concentrate on what we all like. Which surely must be, the mystical or magical way in which poetry speaks straight to the heart in a way no other speech can do.
Bravo!!!..Neville, love this part.

I've had a go at a few, never really liked the style though.

MORNING ALARM
In blissful slumber
Searing shrieks invade to wake
Time impacts the wall.

Thank you both. Just been concentrating on writing that bush poem I started years ago and finally finished it. Will post it here in time.

Hi Dave,
I quite liked your soliloquy, to me it's well thought out with good word selection.

I must admit though I have a very limited knowledge of the soliloquy.

Thank you Terry, the most famous soliloquy is from Shakespeares 'Hamlet' I'm sure you remember this line, ‘To be or not to be, that is the question’, try googling 'what is a soliloquy' I found it quite interesting eh!

Next time my wife says to me " Talking to yourself again; the first sign of madness "

I can gently reply " Have you no appreciation for the fine art of soliloquy "

G'day...
I've tried Haikus as an exercise, even though I have an allergy to counting syllables. I know that a Haiku is not supposed to rhyme, but I found that my preference for rhyming poetry could not be suppressed...

Haiku Seasons…

(of Dreams)
Dream, for old times’ sake;
moonlight on Menindee Lake…
dreamers, though, must wake.

(of Light)
Summer…black crows caw.
Asphalt’s heat insults shod feet…
poor dog licks its paw.

(of Darkness)
Spiders in the night,
air-nets weaving, out of sight…
dew-gems greet first light.

(of Change)
“Never defeated!”
In the streets, it’s repeated…
despots unseated.

(of Death)
Pilot whales wallow
in the tidal pool’s hollow
-tragedies follow.
