Publishing opportunity: RM Williams' "Outback" magazine

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:46 am

I'm always on the look-out for publishing outlets for bush/rhyming verse. Truth is, there aren't many.

Here's one I just learnt of, though - RM William's "Outback" magazine. It is published every second month, and has a readership of 70,000. I don't think they poets cash, but they do give them a $100 RM Williams gift voucher, which is not to be sneezed at...and 70,000 people will have the opportunity to read your poem!

I'd be very interested to hear of any other publishing opportunities.

"G'day Stephen",

Some years ago, I approached the publisher (name escapes me now) to no avail.
I do not clearly recall all the details.

Can you provide details to contact.

"Regards"
Jim.

G'day Terry,

Now firstly welcome back from the bush. Hope you have been inspired to write something earth ssshaking.

Secondly to turn green you have to be donged on the head by the boss, with his magic wand, and be given the power of the green moderator. It is serious stuff.

OOOhhh sounds like that hurts Zondrae.

We also sound like peas from the same pod. A place for everything and everything in it's place.

Came from an old boss who used to make you clean up your work station every afternoon. Put it in a draw but do not leave work with an untidy desk and that even extended to coffee cups !!!!

That other was Blues Magazine -http://www.bluescountry.com.au/history.cfm

Blue's Country Magazine is a monthly publication with pages of good yarns, humour and rural product information. Blues is delivered free to all primary producers in Queensland, Northern NSW and the Northern Territory and is distributed through Australia Post. It is much loved and eagerly anticipated by people on the land and is a great little magazine to boot. It's one of those mags that you hang onto and don't use for lighting fires

Thanks Maureen.

Zondrae,
I have been trying to write a couple not to sure about the earth shaking though, so far haven't even detected a minor tremor.

If Bob or anyone else for that matter gets gonged I want to be there for the gonging, do we all get to have a go?

I note that Peely is green as well, I think we should have a more masculine colour for the blokes. The boss is red so that out, we need a colour that reflects our true Aussie image, how about BRONZE.

Cheers Terry
