Mining company Coalworks says its committed to ensuring the inspiration behind Dorothea Mackellar's "My Country" poem is not destroyed by its Vickery South mine.
Coalworks has employed Author, Historian and independent heritage consultant Sue Rosen to investigate the relationship between the property Kurrumbede and the Australian poem.
Dr Rosen has been researching a range of historic documents including the Mackellar family papers, diaries, newspaper clippings and declarations since April this year. she will prepare a breif overview of the results of her research for inclusion in the Preliminary Environmental Assesment this month and compile a comprehensive report to accompany the Enviromental Assessment for the proposed mining operation on Kurrumbede.
