Flown the Coop ©

I was strutting around the garden,
gazing at the plants.
I moved on down the garden path,
to where the stables are.
But no horse was standing there.

Then down across to the cow yard,
but they had left.
So I changed direction to the sheep yard,
but none in sight.
The shearing shed it's deserted.

I sat upon an old red gum stump,
looking at the plains.
I saw the hills the shady trees,
all along the creek.
But this homestead, it is silent.

There’s an eagle flying up above,
He’s gazing with intent.
I’ll go back to the pigeon coop,
Back, where I belong
