The Road Ahead

I was ten years old
My first bike, shiny and red
A long road ahead

Hi Neville

And hopefully a lot of miles still to peddle.

Short and to the point, but still gets its message across.

It seems to me that the forum in general must be suffering from Corona - Possibly in intensive care as well!

Cheers

Terry

Yes indeed, Neville - I agree with Terry, it is a very succinct and clear message x

Thanks Terry, thanks Catherine. Haiku is a good form to try out, makes you think hard actually. The forum is pretty much dead Terry, reminds me of one of those old shopping centres that used to be a bustling trade now just left to cobwebs and dust.

Hi Neville
I don't think I have ever tried one of these?

Mind you it looks like we need to change focus and try something different.
I'm currently thinking of trying to find another forum - let's face it as you mentioned this one is all but dead.

Well done, Neville! Like Terry, I've never tried Haiku - though I know Maureen is an exponent of it.

Ah - so many genres, so little time!!!

Just a thought on the Forum activity - not trying to open an argument, but I've been tied up with other things for about a fortnight, and on logging into the Forum today, discovered I had 16 new posts to read. That's more than one a day. I know it's not as lively as it used to be, but maybe not quite dead yet.

I'm finding many sites are declining and it is very sad - I don't know what the answer is either. It seems that the posts getting the most attention are not the old classics, nor the cleverly crafted poems of our modern writers, but the memes ... the trivial ... the warped humour, they are the ones being shared hundreds of times over while other poems that are cleverly crafted and well written get barely a handful of responses, and when they do they are mainly from old stagers like us. I figure, rightly or wrongly, that the young ones these days can't be bothered to read and analyse - they want that instant fix right in front of their eyes, done and dusted, move on experience. Very frustrating and extremely sad.

Maureen, I think you have hit the nail right on the head!

Instant gratification with no need to put too much thought into it - that's what seems to appeal to the majority these days. You see it in music, art, movies, TV and life in general. As you say, it's sad.
