MASS IN TIME OF PLAGUE.

Kyrie, Kyrie,
Kyrie eleison.
Invisible and terrible
the beast has been unleashed.
The border gates are shut and sealed
where people die, yet others healed,
and chill grips many hearts.

Kyrie, Kyrie,
Kyrie eleison.
Behind closed doors we stay the course
but in or out, the beast’s about.
The beast has teeth, the beast has claws,
it crushes fortunes, changes laws.
We pray, renew our strength.

Kyrie, Kyrie.
Kyrie eleison.
Who will we blame, who wears the shame
when times are tough and seas get rough,
when devastating loss is seen.
We pray that God will save the Queen,
Pray who will save Australia.

G/day Neville

A bit different but well thought out and worth waiting for.

The Kyrie eleison reminds me of the Latin I once learnt as an Alter Boy all those years ago,
before I fell into rapid religion decline soon after leaving school - I believe it was also mentioned in the Greek Version.

As for who's going to save Australia, well I read recently that Malcom Turnbull would love to have a go at it,
but I don't think anyone is listening.

Cheer Neville

Terry

We all indeed could do with a touch of mercy Neville, even if perhaps we don't deserve it. You've come at this from a different angle and nicely done as well. Who will save Australia? I think Australians will if they can keep their heads - and hopefully the lesson will be learnt.

What an innovative verse and imaginative angle on the prompts, Neville!

I particularly like the unusual rhyme structure.

I agree with the others, Neville - this is well written and original. I've read it several times over and really like it!

Thanks Terry, I'm not a Catholic, the phrase just came into my mind and somehow led me to put down what I thought about recent events.
Malcolm who ?

Thanks Maureen, what do we deserve ?, interesting question.

Thanks Shelley, appreciate your pick up on bit of playing around with rhyme patterns.

Thanks Catherine. : I've been told I shouldn't explain but , hint : the beast is not the virus. :)
