FINDING PERSPECTIVE
(c) Shelley Hansen 16/3/19
Out on the vastness of the Nullarbor Plain
time doesn't matter any more.
Things that enslave us and pursuits that are vain
lose their position at the fore.
Down by the Warrego the writhing waves wash,
borne by the flooding from the north -
boundless and bountiful, the drought's grip to quash,
wild flowered grasses bursting forth.
Red kangaroos abound in wide scattered bush,
resting by day from summer sun.
Bold, raucous cockies jostle loudly and push
turning their feeding into fun.
Fake news surrounds us with its landscape of lies,
no inhibitions brooked by men.
We need reality beneath endless skies -
finding perspective once again.
