Following David's example, in the interests of an "Aussier than Aussie" experience, may I point out that my homework offering may be sung to the tune of "Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars"!
FUN OF THE FAIR
(c) Shelley Hansen 11/8/17
Hot dogs, meat pies, carousels and dodgem cars,
grand parade, then fireworks among the stars,
"strawbs" and cream, potato chips and fairy floss.
Wild rides follow. Will it all survive the toss?
Show bags, bush verse, laughing clowns and ferris wheel,
bearded lady - is she fake or is she real?
August, Queensland - Ekka time in Brisbane town!
Roll up! Roll up! Get the kids and come on down!

Thanks Maureen!
I have a poem which I wrote some time ago, titled "Memories of a Country Show". Last year Janine Keating asked permission to perform it during her stint at the Ekka bush poetry sessions, so I altered it for the occasion, to become "Memories of the Ekka".
I'll post it on a separate thread in Members' Poetry.
Cheers

Shelley, you can't get much "Aussier" than that classic ocker song...unless, perhaps it's "Up There, Cazaly"? But it's a neat way of incorporating those prompts!
