Homework we 31st July - Zippy vs Percy

Post by Wendy Seddon » Wed Jul 26, 2017 12:00 pm

Awesome Growlers in formation flew on through the dawn

while just as drilled a swarm of wasps skimmed over dewy lawn.

The goal of one to hone their skills and so defend our shores,

the other, farmer Jackson’s trees and rotten apple cores.

Conditions were just perfect to give residents a thrill -

to buzz the place on Limestone, with its famous bar and grill.

The Growlers there and gone again within an eyelash blink,

but wasps are much more social and stopped over for a drink.

They saw old Percy playing cards, a royal flush was brewed,

with four hearts sitting in his hand, his face was blank but shrewd!

Now, insects need their target practice just like any jet,

a fleshy arm, a meaty thigh, whatever it can get!

Thus Zippy, Wing Commander from the bathroom corner hive,

soon spotted Percy sitting there and focused on his dive.

The stately buildings, testament to love of buildings past -

gave launch from lofty ceilings, makes the impact hard and fast.

So Zippy steadied for attack, breathed deep and said “Here goes!”

His goal the fleshy bulbous end of Percy’s big red nose.

What happened next is history, it’s for another tale,

you’ll hear it if you pop into the ‘Four Hearts ‘ for an ale.

Oh well done you  Brilliant use of the prompts Wendy in this witty little ramble into one of our iconic drinking holes. Love it.
