Homework July 31: The Decline and Fall of Ipswich!

Post by David Campbell » Tue Jul 18, 2017 1:04 pm

As a growler is a small iceberg, this is probably not what you were expecting, Maureen!

The Decline and Fall of Ipswich!

When airborne growlers fly formation
it’s time to warn the Aussie nation
that all our emissions
mean weather conditions
are causing complete ruination.

The Pumpyard on Limestone’s in trouble
as icebergs descend on the double
and smash it to pieces
as carnage increases
and stately buildings turn to rubble.

All love affairs are past renewing,
for hearts have long since ceased their brewing
as Ipswich collapses
and chickies and chapses
forsake their billing and their cooing.

Love it David! There's nothing like attacking the subject from left field!

I hope your words don't prove to be prophetic - we have an election coming up for a new mayor next month :( and with Paul out of the running there are a swag of new contenders for the position. I am certainly hoping that it doesn't bring carnage or collapse to our beautiful city.

I love your take on the prompts - certainly from left field as Shelley has said and all the better for that. Innovation is good. Well done you
