Poor Fred

He stood on the rusting rails
Camera snapped again and again
We never saw the photos
'Cause he never saw the train

Life is full of missed opportunities isn't it, but my old Dad always said as one door closed another opened, and he was usually right.

Lovely to see you sharing the platform Mate - but you'll wait a long time for a train here as they don't come through Wallangarra very often these days.

He never saw the train perhaps
but there was much to see
had he perchance just looked about
and captured the beauty
of skies dark tinged with indigo
and sunlights bright reflection
upon the wooden seats arrayed
just sharing recollections.
How came that little purple flower
that grew beside the track
Perhaps the seed fell from the wool
of one who ne'er came back.
We could spend liftimes bemoaning
each train that didn't come
and overlook the beauty
that we have already won.

Cheers

Maureen

Yes, but beauty's recollections
Mean nothing, looking back
When a pair of startled eyeballs
Lay squished upon the track.

Was that because he thought it merely the light at the end of the tunnel and didn't realize it was an oncoming train
