Articial Intelligence

Post by alongtimegone » Sun Oct 01, 2023 10:05 am

A bit of a light hearted look at AI

Artificial Intelligence
Are we really taking notice
or like smoke haze in the air,
thick until the wind arrives
to take it off somewhere.

AI is fast becoming
the only show in town.
More than just a talking point
and fun to have around.

In one form or another
AI’s already here,
ferreting our daily lives
so - nothing much to fear?

Netflix knows your favourite shows.
there’s Apple’s face ID,
social media advertisements
that follow you and me.

Would you like a handsome humanoid
to pour and serve your drink,
or arrange the table setting
and ask you what you think.

But perhaps the main concern for now
the risk of automation.
Robotic work alternatives
up and down the nation.

Blinking lights and humming wires
that don’t take smoko breaks.
Its tasks complete in half the time
without all those mistakes.

There are some who think it possible
that somewhere up the line,
there’s potential to mature
into something more malign.

Is it possible we’ll lose control
or is that science fiction?
Do we really need to worry,
and establish some restriction?

If or when could soon become
a very keen debate.
Will the boffins and us ordinary folk
be left to rue our fate?

I’m not writing this to scare you
but perhaps you need to hear.
Watch what you say to Siri
and keep a weapon somewhere near.

Good one Warren
Where's 'Arnie' when we need him.
The scary thing is that although this missive is meant for you,
Half the world may likely see it.
Is it time to unplug our computers?

Cheers Terry

Great tongue-in-cheek commentary on AI, Wazza.

I always tell my husband that he can't hide anything from me ... if he's looking up ride-on mowers on the Internet, I get the adverts on Instagram!!

Cheers

Ah yes, Wazza, this seems to be the state of things nowadays. Funnily enough I've just finished watching a Sixty Minutes Australia interview about increased surveillance of us all, everywhere.... The subject of AI is indeed an interesting debate - although we don't seem to have much choice in the matter anyway!
