MY PINK FLAMINGO

Post by Cropduster » Fri Jan 01, 2016 7:45 am

MY PINK FLAMINGO

When life is full of worries and the bills are mounting up
and I doubt I have the money left to pay,
I go floating down the Murray on my pink flamingo float
and all my worries soon get washed away.

One can hardly think of finance on a pink flamingo float,
as one drifts on by the grasses and the trees.
Never caring where I wind up in my plastic blow-up boat,
Just looking at the world between my knees.

And others on the river bank just wave as I pass by,
a tinge of jealousy within their eyes.
They clearly wish that they could ride the river as I do
in my bright fluorescent pink flamingo guise.

Tightly wedged within the floatie, I push off into the stream,
and let the waters take me on their ride.
My pink flamingo holds me in a psychedelic dream,
a Dali painting drifting on the tide.

The Murray is my therapist, the one to ease my woes.
The flamingo is my therapeutic couch.
I know not where this river - where the mighty Murray goes,
but for its healing power I will vouch.

First floating cab off the rank and another little giggle of a read. Happy New Year Allan. (After Black Saturday I was a member of a group of women called "The Flameingoes" and we have quite a collection of Flamingo cups, jammies, brooches, necklaces - you name it, between us).

It does sound a bit psychedelic  :)

Psychedelic, Neville, and funny, Heather, I would agree.

But it must also be a bit Mardi Gras-ish to see a massive flamingo head coming around the bend with my legs akimbo...not that there is anything wrong with that!!! (apologies Sienfeld)

I'd pay a lot of money to see you trying to get out of that floating flamingo Allan!
