TREE CHANGE

It's hard to find words to express a 'tree change',
to capture the feelings, the sights and the sounds
when all that you see seems so different and strange -
a stranger's first foray to unchartered surrounds.

The lack of the traffic, the crisp and clean air.
The townsfolk who stop and say 'Hi' in the street.
The rolling green hills, native trees everywhere.
The welcome to Albury from people we meet.

But sometimes the impact can best be conferred
by words that are offered from innocent eyes.
I doubt that a better description was heard
than that of my son, who took me by surprise.

I offer the words that I heard my son say
When watching planes land at the Albury air strip
'My God, there are cows at the end of the runway'
That sums it up nicely, I'll give you the tip.

As an aside, I learned from Horrible Histories that " sea change " is a phrase first coined by Shakespeare in his play, The Tempest.

Great show, Neville. I seem to recall an episode where they rattled off a plethora of words and phrases directly attributed to Shakespeare. It was amazing.
