YOGGA
(By Alanm October 2020)
Is it Yogga or Yoga, should’a been Yoda
a Jedi Master of all the bush skills.
Fishin’ or huntin’ he had it all over
all the others who haunted the hills.
He was a West Coaster, a tough breed apart
a Lad from old Gormie near Queenie.
Rugged and game with a Lions great heart
a keen brain underneath his warm beanie.
Fearless and game he’d walk into the night
with a backpack, a compass and rifle.
He ranged thru’ the mountains, hoping to sight
a great Stag, so fine and remarkable.
I keep an ear open, so I won’t miss the shot
when he grasses the best Stag that’s about.
I list’n for the zing of his reel as he hooks
Heavens most enormous Brown Trout.
“ Home is the Hunter, home from the hills
and the Flyfisher, home from the lake.” [1]
